Yes, our shampoos do contain ALS, with the exception of our curly and wavy shampoo, which is sulphate-free. Sulphates are surfactants that act as cleansing agents, helping shampoos create that rich lather and making it easier to spread the product through your hair while effectively removing oil and dirt.

We aimed to retain these benefits in our shampoos but recognize that certain sulphates can strip too much of the hair's natural oils, leading to dryness. That’s why we opted not to use sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), one of the more commonly used sulphates, and instead chose ammonium lauryl sulphate (ALS), a gentler alternative. ALS does not penetrate the skin and hair in the same way as SLS. To put it in perspective, on an irritation scale where water is 0 and SLS is 10, ALS is around 4, making it significantly less irritating.
